Services for families

Moving a loved one into an assisted living community is one of the most difficult decisions a person will ever make. For this reason, care and compassion at CountryHouse extends to family members as well as to residents. Our family services begin before the move, and they continue throughout the transition and even after their loved one has settled in.

Support before moving in

CountryHouse will sponsor a monthly caregiver support meeting for those who care for a loved one at home. Helpful information will be presented at each meeting, followed by time for questions and sharing. For those who cannot leave their loved one at home to attend, complimentary care will be available. Meetings are free and open to the public.

Special speakers and educational programs will also be periodically sponsored by CountryHouse.

Lastly, short term services will include Day Club visits — either half-day or full-day — as well as overnight stays in a furnished guest room. This is a great way for caregivers who need to travel or take care of business, or who just need a break. It also enables families to find out if CountryHouse is a good fit before making a long term commitment.

These pre-move support services are designed to introduce CountryHouse to those who are struggling with caring for someone with progressive dementia, and they’re very important to establishing a relationship of trust between CountryHouse, families and potential residents.

Services during transition

Once a family has chosen CountryHouse, the prospective resident is invited to participate in activities even before moving in. Our experienced staff can assist with details such as finding a mover, and will walk the family through all the paperwork. They will also create a moving-day plan to ensure your loved one has the best first day possible.

Each family receives a copy of Family Moments, a transition guide that includes tips to make visits positive and create moments of joy.

We understand this is a difficult change, and want to ease the process for everyone involved.

Services and support after moving in

After an individual joins the CountryHouse family, their family becomes part of the family too. Annual Family Traditions events are planned throughout the year, such as a Father’s Day Picnic or Mother’s Day Tea. Like any family, we also celebrate birthdays together. Our Facebook page is a great way for families to stay in touch and see pictures of all the fun activities.

Families can visit at any time, but there’s always an open invitation to stop by for our weekly Friday Afternoon Social and Sunday Sundaes. Kids and well-behaved pets welcome!

Because the loss of a spouse to dementia can be especially hard, special events, such as a Valentine’s Day Dinner, are also planned just for couples.

Lastly, families are invited to meet with the director once a month at a neutral location for an informal Coffee Club. It’s a nice social opportunity for people who share a common experience, plus a way to catch up on the goings on and upcoming activities at CountryHouse.

The strength of this support helps families through end-of-life stages and grief too, when the time comes.

The monthly rate at CountryHouse depends on the room that is chosen, and it includes all services and care. Unlike many assisted living options, level-of-care charges are not added on when care needs increase.

CountryHouse Stories

W e honor a person's life by telling his or her story. Alzheimer’s disease gradually robs people of the memories that remind them of who they are, where they’ve been, and what they’ve done. By gathering and preserving memories, we can bring important events and experiences from the past into the present. We can be the link to each one’s life history. Stories help affirm all the positive things a person has done in life and can still do. They remind us of who the individual was before Alzheimer’s disease.

My name is Jeff Ryan and my father, Jim Ryan is a resident at Country House in Lincoln, NE on 84th Street. I wanted to write a testimonial to the Country House organization. My father has lived at County House for a few years now. What helped my family decide on Country House over the other care facilities in the area, is the Country House organization. Country House is a care facility that truly cares, from the top person in the organization to the chef in the kitchen. Every person associate…

Dear Becky, It has been almost two months since dad died (Erick Seifert), and I wanted to express our deep gratitude and appreciation to you and all of your outstanding staff at Astoria Gardens. As you recall, our family was quite involved with selecting a memory care unit for dad. We came armed with a long list of detailed questions when looking for the ideal placement. Having experience as an RN with hospice and home health care background, I knew what I wanted AND did not want when it c…

Dear Mr. Hug, Once again, your team at the Kensington has proven their devotion to your motto, “Treating People Like Family is the Heart of What We Do!” You were kind enough to visit my family in my mother’s room the day that we moved her in a year ago. This evening, with my brother, Mike, from Hastings out-of-town, I was faced with being “on call” with my mother Doris Kleppinger from where I live in Virginia. She has been facing some issues of not eating, difficulty swallowing, and breath…
