Our third Lincoln location opened at 70th and O in the summer of 2016. This community is on property registered as an Historic Place because it was the original site of the Leavitt House. For this reason, it was carefully designed to complement the adjacent Veterans Administration buildings and its beautiful grounds, also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

CountryHouse is beautiful and well-designed

Residential in style, CountryHouse features cozy living rooms with fireplaces, a large family room and sunny dining room that overlooks the beautiful courtyard. There’s a Salon, shuffleboard, and even a fun arts & crafts studio. The Country Kitchen is there for residents to engage in familiar cooking or baking activities, and the courtyard is spectacular with its pergola-covered patio, circulating creek, fountain, raised gardens, walking paths, putting green, and fire pit seating area.

Security features are discrete, yet ensure safety. Halls and sidewalks allow residents to walk freely in circular pathways. Institutional signage, medication carts and scrubs are avoided so that surroundings feel familiar and reassuring.

The amenities are designed to enhance comfort and a sense of home, while services are delivered with the utmost attention to preserving privacy and dignity.

The heart of CountryHouse really shines through in its people. Team members understand the difference between caring and giving care, and they’re committed to infusing our philosophy of treating people like family into everything they do. They provide:

Staff members are hand-picked for their natural empathy, then given dementia care training that includes best practices for communication and redirection. They learn each resident’s story — their likes, their dislikes, their values, their past — and use that knowledge to customize care and to make meaningful connections with each one.

Making the most of every day

In addition, our signature LifeCycles wellness program provides a range of daily activities and reassuring routines. LifeCycles is a yearlong curriculum of weekly themes designed to connect residents, staff and families with each other by engaging the four dimensions of wellness: physical, social, spiritual and intellectual.

Everyone in the House participates in activities. There are daily bus rides, and it’s not unusual for a group of staff and residents to go out for pie at Village Inn or ice cream cones at Culver’s in any given week. Plus, there are special events throughout the year, including cookouts, celebrations and trips.

Neighbors, pets, school and community groups are also integrated into the enrichment program. From puppies to preschoolers to local businesses, everyone benefits from the experience.

Our Second Floor

For those who desire more intimate surroundings, the second floor was designed to accommodate just six residents. Accessible with a secure elevator, it offers a higher staff-to-resident ratio, private dining room and living room, and a sun room that overlooks the courtyard. The kitchen can be stocked with personal preferences, and there are also special accommodations for families. Resident rooms are bigger too, allowing for room-delivered meals. For those who desire concierge-level services, CountryHouse’s Second Floor is the ultimate option in Lincoln for memory care.

For one, all-inclusive rate, all residents are provided with the following services:

  • 24-hour care staff & security
  • On-site nurse & wellness office for regular assessments
  • Daily personal care such as bathing and dressing assistance
  • Medication administration and other health care
  • Nutritious, home-cooked meals
  • Transportation
  • Daily activities and bus rides
  • On-site visits from a podiatrist, physical therapist, and physician specializing in dementia
  • Housekeeping, laundry and maintenance services

Services for families

Moving a loved one into an assisted living community is one of the most difficult decisions a person will ever make. For this reason, care and compassion at CountryHouse extends to family members as well as to residents. Our family services begin before the move, and they continue throughout the transition and even after their loved one has settled in.

Support before moving in

CountryHouse offers monthly caregiver support meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at noon, at the CountryHouse on South 84th Street in Lincoln. Affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Association, helpful information is presented at each meeting, followed by time for questions and sharing. For those who cannot leave a loved one at home to attend, complimentary care is available. Meetings include lunch, and they’re free and open to the public.

Special speakers and educational programs are also periodically sponsored by CountryHouse. In addition, staff are qualified to give Virtual Dementia Tours and presentations on a variety of topics to groups in the area.

Short term services include Day Club visits — either half-day or full-day — as well as overnight stays in a furnished guest room. This is a great way for caregivers who need to travel or take care of business, or who just need a break. It also enables families to find out if CountryHouse is a good fit before making a long term commitment.

These pre-move support services are designed to introduce CountryHouse to those who are struggling with caring for someone with progressive dementia, and they’re very important to establishing a relationship of trust between CountryHouse, families and potential residents.

Services during transition

Once a family has chosen CountryHouse, the prospective resident is invited to participate in activities even before moving in. Our experienced staff can assist with details such as finding a mover, and will walk the family through all the paperwork. They will also create a moving-day plan to ensure your loved one has the best first day possible.

Each family receives a copy of Family Moments, a transition guide that includes tips to make visits positive and create moments of joy.

We understand this is a difficult change, and want to ease the process for everyone involved.

Services and support after moving in

After an individual joins the CountryHouse family, their family becomes part of the family too. Annual Family Traditions events are planned throughout the year, such as a Father’s Day Picnic or Mother’s Day Tea. Like any family, we also celebrate birthdays together. Our Facebook page is a great way for families to stay in touch and see pictures of all the fun activities.

Families can visit at any time, but there’s always an open invitation to stop by for our weekly Friday Afternoon Social and Sunday Sundaes. Kids and well-behaved pets welcome!

Because the loss of a spouse to dementia can be especially hard, special events, such as a Valentine’s Day Dinner, are also planned just for couples.

Lastly, families are invited to meet with the director once a month at a neutral location for an informal Coffee Club. It’s a nice social opportunity for people who share a common experience, plus a way to catch up on the goings on and upcoming activities at CountryHouse.

The strength of this support helps families through end-of-life stages and grief too, when the time comes.


The monthly rate at CountryHouse depends on the room that is chosen, and it includes all services and care. Unlike many assisted living options, level-of-care charges are not added on when care needs increase.
