Choosing the right memory care for your loved one is a significant decision. After all, you want to ensure that you are finding the right fit that will meet all of their needs. However, the financial aspect can add an additional layer of stress and consideration during an already stressful time. If you have questions about how to pay for memory care, know that you’re not alone. In fact, this is typically one of the primary concerns family members face when looking to transition to memory care.

Here at the best memory care in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, we specialize in dementia care and understand the unique needs of those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions.Today, we will explore five essential facts to help you understand the costs and financing options for memory care at CountryHouse.

Fact #1: There are options available.

When it comes to paying for memory care, there are many different options to choose from that can help cover the costs. Different communities vary on what type of insurance they accept, so it’s best to do your research and ask questions when engaging with a representative. Below are some of the most common methods that are used to help pay for memory care:

Medicaid can be a significant source of financial assistance for those living with Alzheimer’s disease. Most senior living communities have a rep that can help families to navigate the Medicaid application process, ensuring that you can access the care your loved one deserves.

Savings and Assets:

Another common option includes using savings and other assets. In fact, many families rely on their savings and assets to help supplement the costs of memory care. Planning ahead and understanding your financial situation is crucial to ensure you can afford the care your loved one needs.

Life Insurance:

Some life insurance policies may have provisions that allow you to use the benefits to pay for memory care. Be sure to check your policy details and consult with your insurance provider to see if this is a viable option for your family.

Veterans Benefits:

Veterans and their surviving spouses may be eligible for benefits through the VA to help cover the costs of memory care. Of course eligibility for these benefits can depend on length of service and other factors. If you think you or your loved one has benefits from Veterans Affairs, contact their VA rep. The memory care community you’re looking at moving into may also have a rep that can help you to access this information.

Fact #2: CountryHouse has two care plans to choose from.

Here at CountryHouse, we offer two distinct care plans to suit your loved one’s needs and preferences. These are detailed below:

All-Inclusive Plan:

This comprehensive plan covers everything your loved one requires, including a private or companion room, meals, snacks, life-enriching activities, outings, and exceptional care. It’s the ideal choice for those with Level 3 or below assessments.

Base Rates Plus Levels of Care:

For residents with Level 4 assessments and above, this plan allows you to choose your room based on availability and your specific preferences. Rates for Levels of Care start at no cost for Level 1 and go up from there.

Fact #3: You may have additional costs you will need to cover.

When considering our memory care in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, it’s important to be aware of potential additional costs. We believe in being as transparent and upfront about our fees as possible. These are some of the common additional costs associated with moving to our memory care community:

A $500 deposit adds your loved one to our waiting list and is applied to the first month’s rent or refunded if no move occurs.

Additional Services:

Families are responsible for services not typically provided by CountryHouse, such as personal telephone or salon services. If you have questions about what amenities and services are included, please don’t hesitate to ask while you are on your tour.

Enhanced Care:

Depending on your loved one’s needs, additional fees may apply for enhanced care or personal attendants.

Cost-of-Living Increases:

Please be aware that yearly cost-of-living increases are implemented. This helps to continue to pay our staff a competitive wage as well as cover any rising costs in utilities, food, supplies, etc.
